Police has threathend VHP activists during their detention. They said that tapping phone of any citizen is illegal and the State Home Department must apologise to those whose phones were tapped by its officials. "The Home Department must explain when and who gave them permission to tap the phones of its office-bearers and why they are being tapped?" they asked. It may be noted that following the gangrape incident in Surat, VHP had given Surat bandh call yesterday and many of its leaders and workers were detained by the police.
